A leader with a passion for impact-driven projects

Kim Palmiero works with media outlets and organizations on custom projects related to journalism and storytelling. She is presently supporting and helping to build the Next Generation Newsroom, a project of the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University. This visionary project seeks to fill gaps in local reporting, elevate the importance of local news, build pathways for journalists, and highlight the essential nature of independent news in the community. Kim has spent her career in newsrooms building, and unfortunately, sometimes contracting, operations. She has had the privilege of working with award-winning journalists covering community, city, county, state, national, and international news. Most recently, she was CEO of Postindustrial Media LLC, an independent, multimedia news source.

Kim is passionate about providing must-have information through independent journalism and helping to build the structure that supports it.

Kim grew up in Meadville, Pa., known as home of the first zipper manufacturing company.

Like millions of other families, hers arrived to the States seeking more opportunity in what was then, a boomtown.

She grew up working in family businesses with her uncle, who emphasized the value of hard work and community service in equal measure. “Go invent something. Go start a business,” one uncle said.

“We didn’t go through all this for nothing.”

Kim also serves on the board of directors for the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania, and as an advisory board member of Industry’s Humanitarian Support Alliance, both nonprofits. She is a member of the National Press Club, in Washington, D.C.

“People are often skeptical of ‘the media.’ But journalism is essential to help us become more informed citizens, understand how government spends our money, and make decisions about our lives.”
